Andy: My 147 (bought it new in 1974 and sold it in 1998)horns rotated clock-wise (looking from the top). Can't answer the second question but my 147 did have a cover on the bottom cavity that covered in all but the lower left corner where the amp was located... to leave the cable (plug-in) sockets accessible and (I imagine) to allow air movement for cooling. All the covers were made of plywood. Doug B.
