[HAM] Hammond gig Heads-upAlicia Morgan alicia at aliciamorgan.comFri Nov 7 16:00:37 CST 2003
Hi Bill - It's my first 'house' gig on Hammond, although I play the one at BB King's on a regular basis. The band is great - Miles Joseph on guitar, who is amazing (plays with everyone from Aretha to Dylan), and usually Tim Scott on bass, who plays with Jack Mack and the Heart Attack - the club owner is the drummer (nuff said), but I'm singing, and the PA is good enough that I can really enjoy myself. My buddy Marty Grebb played there a couple of weeks ago after us, and they get a lot of great local & regional blues or rockabilly acts (that's where you get your turnout - the rockabilly fans are, well, fanatic) - I don't see how he's making money, but I'm going to go with it as long as it holds out - maybe even bring one of my girl bands in... I think that Klymaxx is about done - there's only so far we can go without money or management (we need a show, choreography, costume changes, etc. for the big Old School tours or corporate gigs), and there's a big brou-ha-ha concerning the disgruntled ex-members, VH-1, and a reunion tour that she (the girl who owns the name) doesn't want to do...so I'm back to my 'roots' - blues & soul & rock-n-roll. Back to the 'swelling of the mighty organ'! All best, Alicia
