Hello JohnC,
im dealing with the same question on a 122 leslie. for me i want make
it save on stage. so my solution would be to put a new solenoid
powered by 24 volts or 12 volts...
( will see whats around in may spare parts box. then just switch the 24
v solenoid..)
 and two 110 sockets. i will mount all into a closed box and screw it
into the leslie so the amp itself stays original.


the box will have
an xlr connection for sound
a plug or ac
and plug where i can attach a   switch for changing the speed.
also
thought about having 2 relais and a 3 position switch  to have
no,slow,fast speed ..
