Subject: [HAM] I need

I need an original speaker for a Leslie 21H ...not permanent magnet, etc... to put in order a 21H that I have, that I want to match sound-wise to another 21H that I have. The speaker can be dead or alive, it doesn't matter. I'll have it re-worked... cone, fabric, etc. if I need to. I'd like to not have to have the coil re-wound however.

If somebody has one sitting around, please let me know.

Also, if you know of a source for such a speaker, please let me know that, too. The guy that I bought the cabinet from neglected to tell me that he had changed the speaker out with a perm. magnet, 8 ohm, ...
AND it sounds awful to boot!

Woofer should be 16 ohm.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mike,

I am absolutely new to this Group se let me say that probably
my questions can sound very basic or naive, so my apologies
to whom are veterans.

I am a Leslie user since the 60's (then at junior high)

I am involved with a project of assembling a Leslie 122
from original parts from the scratch.

First, as a newbie, reading your email I couln't assume if you
talk of treble horns section (the driver under the mounting plate)
or just the rotor drum section.

I have seen e.g. www.rock-rons.com used / new stuff lists
as also
direct replacements at www.goffprof.com or

Hammond new parts at www.mitatechs.com (see link at Hammond-Leslie)

BTW I did a similar question and Ebay's seller told me that Jensen is manufacturing
again but not the model I asked.

I am still thinking that re-coning isn't a good thing , is it ?

As you know Internet results are based upon "keywords" properly
used.

Let me share this tip.

I see that appropiate in this case for better search
Is such way less used words are used
better than typing plain "leslie speaker"

Ex.

Jensen speaker
Ruby speaker
Atlas PD-60 driver
Driver diaphragm
Leslie diffusor
Leslie plastic horn

Alnico , (a feature of expensive magnetized speakers within Celestion,
Eminence etc)

Rotary Jensen speaker
Leslie pulley
Leslie belt
rotor bass
rotary horn
rotary treble
Rotosonic
Styrofoam speaker
rotary horn speaker
rotary woofer speaker

just to mention a few for further search

It worked in my case !

The search by "rotary" as you know imagine, carries a lot of things about Rotary Club !!! :)
In the middle of too much links to "Motion Sound " sites, also you can find something of your particular interest.

Please let's share any useful info.

A few musical instruments dealers
have told me that my project is "a bit weird"
as telling "you are reinventing the wheel...."
conversely they mean "Motion-Sound.com he....

Let me say that I never heard any sound in my stomach,
close to a real tube preamp + amp with rotor bass/trebles
Jensen speakers as Leslie did it

In my opinion not the same thing the new Suzuki one without any rotor bass at all
just a stationary bass unit option :(
